Who am I?
I am a person who knows a lot about a little, and a little about a lot.
Working for more than 10 years as the director of a private aquatic center, specializing in aquabike and aquafitness classes.
Thanks to the services we offer, the turnover has been increasing since the beginning of its creation in 2010 until the Covid-19 period… (Currently stagnating for obvious socio-economic reasons).
This implies having some knowledge about the expectations of the users and the functioning of a private aquatic club.
It’s not easy to be good at what you do, but it’s worth a try!
The work I do has a direct impact on the bottom line of the business and its longevity, so staying innovative and providing quality services is a priority.
Continue to learn and test new ways to satisfy customers.
And what better way to do this than to be a coach yourself. When you know how important it is to have an excellent coach to keep your clients loyal.
I would even stress that it is essential!
After six years, I passed the BP JEPS AAN (French state certificate)
Director or coach?
Both!
Today, we can say that I made the right choice because, one is never better served than by oneself.
So here I am, also a coach, and in the same dynamic that drives me, that is to say, hoping to become good and stay good!
This is why I have always tried to renew my coaching programs and its content (the courses) day after day.
To look for new exercises (to enlarge my technical repertoire), to try to innovate, to understand the different pedagogical aspects…
Or to see what is being done elsewhere to get inspiration when you don’t have enough experience.
Nevertheless, it is by searching that we are enriched.
A bit like you at the moment!
One of my strong points: biomechanics.
Indeed, through 20 years of competitions, including a few years at the top level, sport guided the time of my youth.
Then, 16 years as an amateur in another discipline where I trained up to 17 hours a week…
Having the opportunity to work with top coaches during these 36 years is a real learning experience that goes beyond sport.
At the same time, I have been working out in weight rooms for over 33 years. From the age of 16 (accompanied by physical trainers) to today (solo).
It helps when you become a coach yourself.
Indeed, to indicate an exercise to a person lambda, without bringing the good mechanical indications (of the movement) and to correct if necessary, and this, for each participant, is important.
The physical integrity of the participant is at stake!
Well executed movements, optimal results and all this without injuries (pain, inflammation, tendonitis in the medium term…).
This way of wanting to remain conscientious has helped me a lot to be credible, professional and appreciated by the practitioners.
However, a large part of them prefer animation to correction.
Of course, as a coach, you can’t please everyone, but trying is already limiting the damage?
My biggest weakness?
You have probably understood it: animation.
The pedagogical aspect that reflects my work is more like that of a trainer than an aqua animator. Why is that?
Each session must respond to a physical improvement, from the end of the session!
For this, it must be structured:
Targeted work area—precise effort and recovery times – repetition of exercises defined according to the objective (example: muscle strengthening or muscular endurance…).
Conclusion:
I try to pass on my knowledge to anyone who wants to hear it.
I sincerely believe that to be better, one must go forward and avoid being satisfied with a diploma, but understand one’s job and the risks for oneself (fatigue, overwork) and for others (injuries…), if one neglects it.
For these reasons, I have edited the main lines of my experience to bring you an overview of my knowledge through the articles of this blog.
I hope that it will bring you some useful information.
Thank you for reading.
